Self Leveling Floor

Saturday, June 20th
We have been working on our floors again. We have so many spots in our front room and down the hallway that dip and roll. Kory will grind the floor, we mix up some self leveling cement and pour it on. We do our best smoothing it and then let it dry. Some spots only need the cement once while others need it a few more times.

Saturday, June 27th.
We hope to be done! This is the last of the self leveling cement.

We were able to borrow a industrial grinder that Kory has been using for 2 weeks now.

It goes just a little bit faster than our hand held one. We still have to use the smaller one against the walls and corners but the big one can do the rest.

It's finally time to start laying our flooring.
Yay!

Kory and I were able to get the whole office done in one night. After spending all day grinding and adding a little more cement here and there we were tired but we kept going. It's looking so good.

In one night we got so much done! Not only is the office done but the same amount done in our future front room.

So exciting to finally being able to do some finish work.

May Projects

Kory has been so busy at work lately that our we just aren't working as much on the house.
But we still are working.

We poured another cement pad. One day in the future we will build a chicken coop on the back half. The front half we are hoping to put a roof on and be able to keep the kids bikes and such
underneath it. When Hunter needs to work on his motor bike or a quad he can work on them right here too.

We also got started on our outdoor bbq. Kory friend, Ben is building it for us.

We also started working on our floor. The cement that we didn't replace isn't very level. There's quite a few dips in it. So we are pouring self leveling cement hoping that it will level the floors out.

Before we pour it Kory is taking the grinder to the floor. The grinder is taking off glue from the past flooring and smoothing the seams where the old meets the new cement. Its been very, very time consuming! But it's progress. So I'll take it.

Grass

Saturday, April 18th

Kory decided it was time to start working on our landscaping in the back yard. It's getting hot. It's feeling like summer. If we don't want to go through another summer of dirt it was time to get busy.
And so we began tilling up all the weeds around the fruit trees.

Then we moved some extra dirt to the side of the house.

Kylie grabbed her sand shovel to help.

Last year we hauled rock to the back yard. Now it was time to move all that rock again.

We want to pour another small cement pad between the pool and the shed. We'd like to build another chicken coop on part of it.

Before we can plant grass we need to put in a irrigation system.

We worked all week long getting the trenches dug and tilling the ground.

Then came the fun part. Putting our sprinkler system together.

Kylie was a huge help. She enjoyed staying close to daddy and helping him

We ran 2 lines. One for our drip system that will water our strawberries, fruit trees, berries and flowers out front. The other system will water our grass.

Our sod was delivered Friday afternoon.

After a very long day on Friday we were finally ready to lay out the sod. Saturday morning started bright and early at 6am. We wanted to get the sod done before it got to hot.

The kids were great help.

We all worked together and got it done in just a few short hours.

It looks amazing!

We had some extra sod so we set it on the side of the pool too. This is going to be so nice this summer having grass. It's been a long week but will be so worth it.

Absolutely beautiful having grass back there. I just love the way it looks.

Garage and the Old Chicken Coop

Our garage is about done!
Kory was able to finish painting the garage this past weekend.
WooHoo!
And Monday, our garage door was installed.
Yippee!
I love the way it looks.

The guys that did our stucco bought our chickens from us. We've wanted to tear down the old coop. It was nasty, falling apart and full of bugs and spiders. The gate wouldn't open without a hefty shove. every time it rained it was nothing but a muddy mess. The chicken wire had some pretty big holes and the previous owners covered them with whatever they had. When Kory lifted the coop up with his skid steer numerous mice ran out from underneath. So glad it's gone!

It's hard to believe and I'm sure he got some crazy looks but the chicken coop was placed right on top of the trailer and away it went to the dump.
It's gone!

Master Bath Floor

Monday for family home evening we laid the bathroom floor in the master bath.

It's easy enough to do but took us a minute to figure it out. Because it's a floating floor we aren't gluing it in place. And so it moves way to easy! To keep it on the line so that it would all be straight we had the kids come in and stand on our first few rows. They just had to stand on it to keep it from moving on us. Karson (Hunter's friend) was over so we recruited his help.

Emily and Brayden did their homework while standing there.

It looks AMAZING! Now we can do baseboard, paint it and then get the bathtub hooked up. Kory can build the vanity and we can go pick up a toilet.

It's going to be great!

Tape & Texture

This week we got an unexpected phone call. We just had a real cold front move in and our tape and texture guys are "frozen" out of their Beaver, Ut job. They asked if we wanted them to come finish our house. Ummm ya! That's a no brainer!

So we had one night to hussle and get everything out of those front rooms again!
Kory decided to go ahead and hang up the lights in the master bath to help get rid of the clutter.

Despite following the directions for the master tub our water was to far into the wall and the fixture wouldn't reach. So Kory had to cut a hole in our newly painted wall to extend the water. Our tape and texture guy will do their thing on this spot when they are here.

We had to get all the stuff out of our front entryway. That meant our 2 refrigerators and deep freeze. Now they are all in the kitchen where one day they will find their permanent home.

Our kitchen has a new look again. Just thankful its functional.

I don't love the oven sitting in the middle of the floor but at least I still have one. It's been cold this week and we've been super busy so it's been nice to bake a pizza or throw in a freezer meal.

On Tuesday they came and just taped the seams.

On Wednesday they put the 2nd coat on the seams and covered the screw nails.

On Thursday they textured the ceiling and walls.

On Saturday morning they came back and sanded it so that we can start painting.
Yay!!

During the week we worked in the master bedroom. Had to grind the floor and pour some more self leveling cement so that it will be ready for carpet one day soon.

In the master bath we had to cut concrete for what I hope will be the very last time ever!
Had to find our bathtub drain.

We got it all stubbed out and ready to install our bathtub. Just got to get the flooring done now.

Master Shower

People keep asking what's left on the house?  The upstairs is 100% complete. Yay!! There are 3 things left in the kitchen, 1) Back splas...
