The taping begins.

It's happening!
Monday, Dec 30th Kory and I were up before 6 and got the kids up at 7 to finish moving some bigger things up stairs before our tape and texture guy showed up.  We were told they would be here "first thing",  which ended up not being till 10am. At least we were ready.  They got the 1st coat over the seams done before they went home for the day. They didn't get the whole house though. Just the kitchen/pantry, office, Hunter's room, master bath and closet. But hey it's at least a start.

They came back Tuesday morning again at 10am and got the 2nd coat on the seems and the 1st coat on the nail holes. It was then that I learned they don't have time to do the rest of the house. I'll admit I've been fighting tears since I heard it. I'm disappointed. They aren't getting to the garage, the family room, entryway, master bedroom and hallway. Those were all the rooms that we have been busting our behinds to get cleaned out. Those were our storage rooms, the rooms we kept tools in, the rooms we had our makeshift pantry. We spent hours moving all that stuff for no reason. There was no where to put them so it's been shoved into our fruit room, outside, in the already full shed and upstairs. I can't put my Christmas décor and tree away because we used some of the boxes for crap and my tree box is buried in the shed. Kory kept telling me it's only going to be about 2-3 weeks and then everything can have it's home again. We can live like this for that long. But......this isn't so! We were told they have several houses to do and some small patch jobs before they can come back. They know we are ready and will get here as soon as they can.  I just want to cry! But I'm trying really, really hard to be thankful for the part they are getting to.

This is our kitchen.

Our dining room

It will all eventually get done! It will all one day have it's very own place. Until then we will manage. When it's not rainy and windy outside I will have to pull stuff out of the shed so I can put up Christmas. I don't have the patience to have it out for more than just another week or two. As time moves and these rooms get finished we'll start putting stuff in corners again, the tools that we use that can't go outside. I will get my laundry room and fruit room back. I will manage. We are so close to being done.

Ready for Texturing

This past week in a half has been crazy busy. Not only is it Christmas Break for the kids right now but Christmas was this week too! We've had party's, little get together's with friends and family events to attend. The Christmas season is always crazy but trying to work on the house has just added to the craziness. We got word that our tape and texture guy would be here first thing Monday, Dec 30th. So we really had to bust a move.

The majority of the house is sheetrocked but we do have a few places that have been held up.

We ordered our master tub and pot filler on Amazon so we could get it quicker than any local store who said they had to order them in. The Pot Filler showed up 2 days late and was missing the part we needed to be able to finish sheet rocking the wall. The manufacturer was willing to send us the part but said it would take 7-10 business days before we got it. We didn't have that much time. So we sent it back to Amazon and ordered a new one.  Same day we got our bathtub (Which was delivered a week late!). When it was delivered the front of the box was smashed in. Wasn't to shocked to see a huge gouge in the porcelain where the box was crushed. We did NOT accept the delivery and had to re order another one.  The new one was delivered on time and is in perfect condition. We were able to finish plumbing for it. We got the new pot filler too and was able to finish that wall in the kitchen.

Once the plumbing stub outs were done we moved on to insulation AGAIN but this is the last time!!

Miss Kylie was our button pusher.
We had to insulate the master bath exterior wall, the attic over the bathroom now that Kory fixed our water leak AND the garage. We bought 30 bags, used all of them and had to go back for more. But we did it! ALL the insulation is finally done.

When we were done with the insulation we were able to finish the sheet rocking. It took us a few days. We had a friend come help a few times and Kory brought his employee's home to help finish too.

While Kory, Hunter and the employees were sheet rocking the kids and I were doing other things.
These 2 went around and took off all the electrical plates so we don't get sheet rock mud on them.

The things our children has learned over the past 2 years is crazy when we start to think about it. This house has been built by ALL of us. We have each played our own parts in it.

Kids and I also took out the old wood floor. This was quite the chore.
Who ever laid it used some crazy glue.

We took turns letting the little kids try busting it up while us older ones hauled it out to the trailer.

We finally got it all!

While we were working on the inside our stucco guys continued to work outside.

The gray coat is on. Now it gets to sit for a few weeks before they come back to paint.
It gives the house a whole new look.

Our house and garage is full of tools. In preparation of our tape and texture guy coming we had to haul stuff out of the garage to give them room.

We put all our trim pieces and tile by the front door so it doesn't get rained on.

We had to move stuff around on the inside too. Kory brought home these 4 large cabinets that we have been using as a pantry/ kitchen shelves for several months now. We had to clean them off and get rid of them so our tape and texture guys could do their thing behind them.

With lots of patience and several try's we were able to take everything off 3 of the shelfing units.

We put the absolute necessities and things that were opened onto one cabinet.

All my open spices, 2 mixing bowls, 9x13 pans, large pans, plates, cups, bowls, opened boxes of cereal, Tupperware, cookie sheets, etc are squished into one cabinet. Where did everything else go? Down to the dungeon. My nice tidy organized fruit room sure didn't last long! We just had to throw all the big stuff down there so it's out of the way up stairs.

My one little counter had to be cleaned off to or I would end up with sheet rock mud all over it. So we took everything to the laundry room. The air compressor and some of the tools that Kory didn't want outside had to go in there too.

The paint that we have had to go somewhere else too. So it went downstairs to the fruit room.

I really hate this! I feel like we are living in a hoarders house! But just a few more weeks and hopefully this stuff will all have it own place again.

We did it! We are ready for Monday when the tape and texture guys come.

Dungeon is Complete

Our Dungeon is complete!
Kory brought home the cabinets for the dungeon. It looks so good down there!

I've got cabinets on both sides. The ceiling is painted, the walls are painted. It looks so bright and clean down there now.

No more chipped ugly and yucky cement. We got tile.

I just love how clean it all looks.

Before taking all our food storage down stairs we cleaned it all.

This cute girl volunteered to wash everything while eating a blue candy cane.

Even cans still wrapped in the manufactures plastic had dirt and debri on the cans. Thankfully they weren't as bad as the loose cans.

We have had our food storage all over the place these past few months. Some where under beds but most of it was stored down our hallway. We all made so many trips down to the dungeon I began to worry we wouldn't get it all to fit.

Wow!
It seriously brought tears to my eyes. My dungeon  fruit room is so organized. Everything has a spot. We also discovered we have a nice supply of canned beans, vegetables and fruit. I actually have 2 empty shelves still! I am going to love this new and done room in our house.

Garage

It's time to get the garage ready like the rest of the house. We hauled our left over insulation foam boards to a friends house. We got rid of all the scrap materials we've been hanging onto. Our garage looks fantastic. Looks like just maybe we could actually park a car or two in there.

Kory and I got all the electrical outlets wired in the garage.

While Kory and I were working inside the garage our stucco guys showed up. They worked hard and got the front of the house ready for stucco.

Wow! Makes the house look so different.

Insulation

It's time for insulation again.

Kory bought another 30 bags so we could get the discount. We'll see how many we use.

Wednesday night we got all the walls in the office done.

I love how easy and quick this is.

The past few days we hung some sheet rock on the ceiling. Hanging felt on the ceiling is super difficult. So we don't want to have to hang it if we don't have to.

The office walls and ceiling was completed Wednesday night.

Thursday we were able to finish the insulation. we'd blow it into the ceiling, add some sheetrock and then blow some more.

The only part in the ceiling that we couldn't finish was above the master bath. When it rains, it leaks. It looks like the roofing freeze barrier paper we installed may have cracked in the seam which has allowed the water to come in through the seam.

When we got the ceiling done we finished up the walls.
We got it all done!
Now we can start sheet rocking again.

Master Shower

People keep asking what's left on the house?  The upstairs is 100% complete. Yay!! There are 3 things left in the kitchen, 1) Back splas...
