Ready for the inspection.

Saturday June 30, 2018
I got home from Girls Camp Saturday morning just before noon. How fun to see that Kory had wired our front porch lighting and then had finished sheeting the pillar. I love the way it turned out.

He also got this bad boy almost hooked up that afternoon. We are missing one part that we'll go pick up tonight. He'll install it Monday and hoping for an electrical inspection Monday afternoon or sometime Tuesday. This is going to be our new power so that we can move the existing electrical panel out of the window!

This is our existing panel. Right in the window's way. Before we knocked down the exterior wall this panel was hung on the outside of the house near the laundry room. Moving rooms around this part of the house is now going to be the 2nd boys room. The panels got to go!

Wednesday is July 4th. We've told the kids we'll go to Kanab for their awesome parade but then we'll probably come home and work on the house. Our plan is to insulate and then sheetrock the boys future room. We are so excited that we can finally put a room back together. WooHoo! It's been 7 months with the kids sleeping in the family room. We are all so ready to get their rooms finished. So excited to be able to see it coming together this week. If all goes well I'm hoping by next week we can move the boys out there.

That snake we found in our house last week, still hasn't been seen again!

More Wiriing.

The past 2 weeks have been crazy at our house. We have had 2 family reunions two weekends in a row which really hasn't allowed us to get much done on the house. It doesn't help that I'm going to Girls Camp this week and won't be coming home until Saturday. This will make 3 Saturday's in a row that we haven't been able to put in a good full day's worth of work. But we are still trying to do as much as possible. It's going pretty slow but I keep telling myself at least we're going.

Little by little we have been working on the electrical.

Lot's of blue boxes and lots of pulling wires.

Even the garage is seeing some work!

We are about ready for our 2nd electrical inspection. So happy!

Today we had an unexpected visitor.....
We have had a chicken, a dog, a goat and now a dang snake get into our house! Our house is not sealed making this pretty easy to do.  I think this guy was the most un-welcomed visitor of all. We locked him in the bathroom until Kory got home from an install in St. George. When we opened the door again it was GONE! We searched the house, we moved furniture, we picked up boxes. It was no where to be seen again. According to Google this is a California King snake who prefers the heat. We did have a hole in the bathroom wall behind the door that was stuffed with insulation. We are assuming he slithered his way through and made it back outside. Just hoping he made it back outside and we don't find him over the next few days.

More Insulation.

Last Saturday June 2 we took the day off. We actually came home that day from a 3 day vacation from Lake Powell. It was a much needed break away from work and the house!

Before we continue with the wiring Kory needs to put more "top plates" on. But before we can do that we needed to remove the ceiling sheet rock and all the old yucky insulation that is in the attic. Last time we did this we had Hunter climb up into the attic and kick everything down. It made a HUGE mess. We had to scoop up the insulation with shovels and dump it into large garbage sacks. It  took several hours to clean everything up and insulation was always "in the air", it was horrible!

So this time Kory brought up his old dust collector. We sat it up outside the garage and had Hunter climb into the attic and began suctioning that old insulation out. It worked perfectly! Earlier this week he was able to suction out all the insulation over the garage.
You can see Hunter in the attic!

On Friday, June 8, Hunter went to work with his Dad so Madelyn, Emily, Brayden, Kylie and I went to work on removing the old sheet rock from the ceiling in the garage. It took us a few hours but we got all that sheet rock taken down and put into our garbage cans. We were so busy I didn't take any pictures of us working. Bummer!

I also had  Brayden take out all the old nails from the trusses that were holding up that old sheet rock. He did a great job!

While Brayden was removing nails the girls and I moved to the next room, the boys old room. We knocked some sheet rock down so we could start suctioning out the old insulation.  We got about 1/3 of the room suctioned out when the bag popped off the dust collector and scattered insulation all over our yard! Madelyn and I as quick as we could picked up most of it.

I could not figure out how to put the bag back on so we called it a day.

Saturday June 9

Saturday morning, Kory put another bag on the dust collector and Hunter and I went to work!

We finished sucking out all the insulation from his old bedroom, parts of our future family room and the hallway. We also took down the sheet rock from his old bedroom. The front part of our house is finally free of insulation and sheet rock.

At the end of the day we had filled 3 of these massive bags with nasty, old insulation.

While Hunter and I were working on the insulation Kory and the rest of the kids were doing more wiring in the bedroom.

He installed the can lighting in the closet, the light switches and the boxes and wiring for internet.

It was a long day. But a good day. I love the days that I feel we accomplish a lot!

Master Shower

People keep asking what's left on the house?  The upstairs is 100% complete. Yay!! There are 3 things left in the kitchen, 1) Back splas...
