Painting the Laundry Room

The past 2 weeks have come and gone so quickly!
Saturday Nov 24th we finished sheetrocking all the walls we could possibly do.

All the hallways and our entry way is done!

Our family room has its walls done along with part of the ceiling in the garage.
We actually had to do the garage ceiling before we had the insulation blown in.

WOW! What a difference that insulation has made! We had our thermostat set to 68. The kids actually complained they were hot while working around the house. What??? After acclimating to the 68 I have re-set it to70. Our house is so nice and warm! I love being home and being able to work or cook breakfast or fold laundry and NOT freeze my tushy off!

This past week Kory was able to paint our laundry room.
He primed it first, put 2 coats of paint on the wall and then 2 coats of paint on the ceiling. It looks so good! I am so excited to see it coming together so nicely.

It has been 4 weeks since Kory broke his collar bone. It sucks! It's not fun. His collar bone doesn't bother him at all. It's the other muscles in his back that spasms and gives him quite a bit of pain. It's been a hard 3 weeks! But we've kept our heads up. We've been so thankful and have had to graciously accept help from others. Because of this our house is so much farther along than it would have been if he hadn't gotten hurt! That right there is the silver linning in his accident!
And we are LOVING the warmth we have in our house this winter!

Just Keep Swimming, Just Keep Swimming

This past week we were again blessed with friends and neighbors who came over and helped us work on our house. I was so hoping that putting a ceiling in would help keep us warm but we really didn't feel a difference. It is still pretty cold!

Burning wood in our stove I can usually get our house up to about 60. But if I leave for any length of time or during the night that temperature drops pretty quickly. Most mornings (even with our gas fireplace going all night long) we get up to about 53 degrees. It is so cold! I keep telling myself to just keep holding on. We are so close!

Before climbing into bed I heat up our sheets with a blow dryer!

Brayden quite often eats his breakfast in front of the fireplace! He sure knows how to hog up all the heat.

We have worked almost every single night this week. We are getting insulation next Tuesday. But before we do that there were a few things that still needed to be done. For example the water heater and dryer exhaust pipes that run up and through the attic to the outside. Grandpa Heaton and Hunter worked on that part.

After installing the wire for the doorbell we were able to finish putting in the insulation bats on that outside wall.

Then outside we needed to put some sort of a closure on so that when they blow the insulation in it it won't go out the eaves!

With the laundry room completely done we had our friend come over and tape and texture the  laundry room and the 2nd bedrooms closet. Now we can paint! WooHoo!

It is so nice to see the house coming along.

Blessed

We have been so blessed this past week!
On Sunday evening our home teachers came over offering their help along with a few others in our ward. Two evenings this past week we've had men show up to help us. I didn't take pictures of them but I am so thankful for all the help they gave us. Our electrical work inside the house is just about done. We've got all the lighting, the switches and electrical boxes installed with wire pulled everywhere that we needed it! Words can't not begin to express the grattitude we felt.

On Saturday Nov 3rd our friends came to help us hang sheetrock. We had Danny Wheeler, Cody and Shelly Goodfellow, Tony and his son Nate Werrett, Brad and his son Cameron Wright along with our Grandpa Heaton. In only about 3 hours we had hung every piece of sheetrock we had. Those 3 hours went by so fast!

Hunter and Grandpa

Brayden got to help too!

Every ceiling in the house is sheetrocked! Really hoping this will help with keeping us a bit warmer at nights and during the day. The laundry room is completely done. The master room is done except for the wall that will share the bathroom. The 2nd bedroom is also done except for the bottom part of the wall that the gas line is running through and the closet. We also still have the hallways to do and the walls in the family room. If we would have had enough sheetrock we could have kept going. But truth be told Kory was was getting tired, his body was hurting and it was probably a good thing we stopped for the day.

We are so, so thankful for all our friends and family members who have been able to help us!

Master Shower

People keep asking what's left on the house?  The upstairs is 100% complete. Yay!! There are 3 things left in the kitchen, 1) Back splas...
